Employers, educators, labor unions, workforce professionals, and their partners across the country are launching Registered Apprenticeship programs that allow youth to earn competitive wages while obtaining the relevant training and experience to start their careers, often including the opportunity to earn college credit.

Spaulding High School will host a College & Career Fair on Wednesday, May 8 from 8:30 am to 10:30 am in the gymnasium. ApprenticeshipNH will have a staffed information table to share information about current opportunities and registered apprenticeship pathways. According to organizers, the fair will be based on the following pathways: college and trade schools, military, summer employment, post-graduation employment, and other community resources. The event is open to all students in grades 9-12. Students will be called down by grade level to help attendees tailor their message. Booths/tables will be provided and business representatives are welcome to conduct on-the-spot interviews.

The Junior Achievement Pre-apprenticeship program is a FLDOE state certified 6-month program that serves over 200 hundred students and young adults from 11 high schools and the community throughout Broward County. on May 9th, students from Stranahan HS, South Broward HS, and ASCEND Academy will tour two leading maritime companies DeAngelo Marine Exhaust and Frank & Jimmie's Propeller Shop to learn about career opportunities and engage in hands-on experiential learning as each student prepares to declare the occupation they which to pursue as a career.
