The focus of the conversation was to learn more about their state’s in-school and out-of-school youth apprenticeship initiatives for youth ages 16–24.

    Description

    The MD Department of Service and Civic Innovation (DSCI) launched the nation's first statewide service year program focused on both training and service, in partnership with BuildWithin. A vast majority of the participants are going through registered apprenticeship programs with their employer hosts. The Service Year effort is a powerful example of registered apprenticeships being applied to multiple industries across all of Maryland. For both young individuals at the start of their careers and individuals mid-career making a pivot, the Registered Apprenticeship model is a key part of the success seen through the Service Year effort.
