Registered Apprenticeship Helps Upskill the Automotive Industry

Jean Fabelo

Jean Fabelo is an Automotive Technician apprentice at a Jaguar and Land Rover dealership in Louisville, Kentucky. Jean had always wanted to be in the automotive industry, but he did not know how to begin that career path. Before starting with the Automotive Apprenticeship Group (AAG), Jean was a supervisor at a Ford truck plant, where he worked for five years.

Regarding his Registered Apprenticeship, Jean stated, “I’ve been most surprised at how helpful and how easy it was for me to start learning and feeling comfortable about what was going on at work or school. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that it's better to be doing something you love than to be working just for money.”

Though Jean was initially nervous about working on cars that were not his own, he quickly became comfortable performing his duties. “After working with my trainer and learning in class and online, my confidence grew exponentially and helped me overcome that fear.”

Jean noted that one of the highlights of participating in the AAG program is the opportunity to work in a field that he loves while learning from kind, instructive, and professional individuals.

I would recommend an AAG apprenticeship because they help you every step and make sure you’re happy and comfortable with everything you’re going through. From the location you're working to the online classes and everything in between… and if you’re not happy with the location you are training in, they help you find a location that works best for you.”
