Attending a local job fair was a turning point for The Huan Hoang, a senior at Cal Poly Pomona in California. At this event, he met two executives from global talent solutions firm Robert Half and learned about the Apprenticeship and Workforce Innovation Program. “I was extremely interested because the program offers paid, on-the-job training and remote flexible work opportunities.”
The was also excited about the length of the assignment. Unlike many internships which last for several weeks, the Robert Half program runs 12-18 months. “This gives me time to gain experience, hone my skills and build relationships that could lead to a full-time opportunity,” said The.
Working with the Enterprise Information Security Operations team as a security analyst apprentice has been a rewarding experience thus far, offering hands-on experience and support at multiple levels.
“We have monthly meetings with the Apprenticeship and Workforce Innovation Program to check in on current and upcoming projects. I also meet bi-weekly with my supervisor and a mentor, who offer useful advice on soft skills and technical skills. There are also tools and trainings at my disposal, so I can continually learn as I go. “Honestly, the experience has been amazing. I get to work in a friendly, welcoming environment where everyone is willing to help me succeed. I feel like I’m a valued part of the team.”
A flexible work model enables The to work remotely and adjust his work hours when necessary. “This is so important as I am still taking classes and trying to balance work, school and family.” Another perk, he noted, is being part of a global team. “I work with a diverse group of people who live in different parts of the world. As an immigrant, it is comforting to have a global work family: All of us have different styles but still work well together.”
The encourages others to explore Robert Half’s Apprenticeship and Workforce Innovation Program and is excited about what’s ahead. “Robert Half is an amazing global company focused on diversity and I have felt so welcomed here. I’m excited for what the future may hold and hope that the work I’m doing could possibly lead to a full-time role.”
