Event Description

Madison County Employment and Training (Local Workforce Innovation Area 22) invited the Char of the Illinois Workforce Innovation Board Apprenticeship Illinois Committee to the Metro East St. Louis area to wrap up National Apprenticeship Week for the State of Illinois and visit an innovative program that is being recognized and replicated throughout the United States. First US DOL Registered Food Truck Apprenticeship Program in the nation. Retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. John Michel created Soulcial Kitchen, featuring food trucks, which commenced This mission to fight against food insecurity in the Metro East St. Louis area. Since starting this business, General Michel has created and launched the first Registered Apprenticeship program for Food Trucks nationwide.
