Event Description

In November 2021 LFOSA hosted an Apprenticeship Expo for all high school students in the state of Louisiana. This event featured presentations by a representative from the U.S. Department of Labor, the Louisiana Workforce Commission and two recent apprenticeship graduates advocating the benefits and advantages of securing an apprentice position which would lead to a sustainable and relatively high paying career. In keeping with LOSFA’s goal to promote and prepare students for a postsecondary education, this proposed event is a subsequent occasion were companies that sponsor apprenticeship programs are invited to participate in a VIRTUAL “Apprenticeship Fair,” very similar to a job fair. This will give high school students the opportunity to learn about apprenticeships and investigate specific apprenticeship opportunities by speaking directly with representatives of companies that sponsor apprenticeship programs. Interested students who are seniors will be motivated and encouraged.
