All industries depend on workers with tech skills such as computer technicians, web developers, IT project managers, and cybersecurity analysts. But constantly changing technological needs and advancements make it so many companies find it difficult to establish and maintain a skilled tech workforce. Registered Apprenticeship is a proven solution for recruiting, training, and retaining world-class tech talent in good, quality jobs. In 2024 there are over 64,800 registered apprentices served in tech occupations, a 29% increase over the past four years.
  • “Registered Apprenticeship programs offer Amazon a multifaceted solution to tech talent acquisition and development. They provide access to broad talent pools while offering a faster way to upskill new hires and existing employees for specific IT, cyber, and technology roles. Additionally, apprentices bring fresh perspectives from their lived experiences that contribute to Amazon's innovation culture, and help address the challenge of ensuring we look to talent in all ways to help critical business areas.”

Nick Curry, Senior Manager, Emerging Talent Pipelines, Amazon

Tech Industry Registered Apprenticeship Community of Practice

The Tech Industry Registered Apprenticeship Community of Practice was developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor Industry Intermediaries for cybersecurity and IT. This Community of Practice (CoP) will connect you with other stakeholders to collectively focus on ways to strengthen, expand, and modernizeRegistered Apprenticeships in the tech industry. This may be of interest to sponsors of a Registered Apprenticeship program with a tech-related occupation or an employer, industry association, education provider, workforce system partner, State Apprenticeship Agency, grantee, non-profit, or government or community partner who supports a sponsor and its apprentices.

CoP members will receive email invitations to quarterly virtual meetings with OA where members can share peer program updates, best practices, challenges, and lessons learned from others in the field. You will also receive timely updates related to industry-related data, new DOL funding opportunities, contracts, and other initiatives as well as the CoP e-newsletter, Registered Apprenticeship: Tech Talk.
