Celebration of IBEW Solar Training in Illinois

IREC's workforce development team will visit the IBEW 134 NECA Technical Institute in Chicago Illinois to recognize the leadership shown by this and other locals across Illinois to prepare their members for work in the booming solar market. For many years Local 134 has worked to ensure that their apprentices receive training in solar technology fundamentals, and that more advanced continuing education courses are available for their journeyworkers to stay on top of the rapid technology advances and relevant code changes related to solar, energy storage, and other clean energy technologies. In conjunction with IREC’s annual retreat, our workforce team will tour Local 134’s training facility to celebrate 10 IBEW locals across Illinois using DOE funding that IREC administers through the Solar Ready Vets Network to become NABCEP Registered Training Providers and qualify their members for industry recognized credentials.
