Apprenticeships are viewed as beneficial to both transitioning service members/veterans and employers who are having a difficult time finding skilled workers. Civilian apprenticeship programs offer advanced standing or provide credit hours for military training and experience if it is a similar occupation. In addition, any service member can pursue a skill unrelated to their Military training and experience.
As a registered apprentice, qualifying service members and veterans may also be eligible to receive Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits, which may be utilized during training in a Registered Apprenticeship program and provide for the receipt of a percentage of their monthly housing allowance (MHA), in addition to their apprenticeship wages.
