Hypertherm

Organization:Hypertherm

Benefit:Retain Workers

Hypertherm, a global advanced manufacturing company, recognized they needed to hire approximately 60 machine operators annually for several years in order to meet their projected business demand in their Hanover, New Hampshire location. This rate of hiring would increase their workforce by 50 percent annually. In the absence of an immediately skilled local labor market to support the demand Hypertherm turned to apprenticeship to create a skilled workforce. After realizing that apprentices were performing better than existing workers, Hypertherm began using its apprenticeship program to re-train their existing workforce.
